Every year in a small town in Italy called Patrica, my family and the local residents temporariy go crazy for a man and his dog.The man is a saint called San Rocco. Born in 1340, he lived a very dramatic life of mistaken identity, celebrity, poverty and misfourtune, and performed many mircles along the way. San Rocco has been celebrated as the paton Saint of Patrica for centuries.
For our August wine dinner we will focus on the food and wine traditions of the Festa di San Rocco and enjoy live traditonal Italian music by Seattle's top accordianist Steve Rice.
Paired with the great wines of Ruffino we present our Viva San Rocco Menu:
Antipasto Misto: Crostini with melon, prociutto and gorgonzola, fagioli with spinach, roasted eggplant, Reggiano Parmigiano cheese.
Ruffino Prosecco
Color: Bright straw yellow with fine bubbles. Aroma: The bouquet is fragrant and intensely fruity. It shows clean notes of apples, pears and citrus, accompanied by slight hints of hawthorn, wisteria and elder.
Tasting profile: Crisp, clean and delicate with fine bubble caressing the palate. Intense sensations of apples and peaches drive a pleasant aftertaste that is reminiscent of fruity and floral aromas.
Insalata:Fresh Arugula, goat cheese, candied chestnuts with fresh lemon and first press olive oil from my grandfather's olive orchards in Patrica, Italy.
Borgo Conventi Pinot Grigio
Intense straw yellow in color. On the nose, the wine has mature notes of wild flowers and subtle hints of fresh, crusty bread. On the palate, the wine is elegant, refreshing and well-balance with intense ripe pear flavor. Bright acidity and concentrated flavors make for a delicious and well-structured wine with a lengthy, fragrant finish.
Pasta: Housemade braised veal ossobucco ravioli with shaved mushrooms and sage butter.
Ruffino 'Modus' Supertuscan 2008
Ruby red in color with garnet hues, this well-structured wine’s characteristics express the perfect union of the three varieties that make up the Modus blend. Hints of sweet tobacco and spice lead to inviting aromas of cherries, blackberries and plums. This full-bodied wine is rich with refined, silky tannins and a long finish of mint, chocolate and red berry essences.
Secondo: Roasted Wild Boar with black currant, black cherries and port wine sauce served with wilted greens and baked organic zucchini with roma tomatoes and parmiggiano.
Ruffino 'Ducale Oro' Chianti Classico Riserva 2006Ruby red in color, with garnet hues. Riserva Ducale Oro 2006 shows the distinctive Tuscan bouquet of a great Chianti Classico Riserva with notes of violet, cherry, plum and spice. On the palate, the wine has well-defined structure and a generous, fruity core accented by hints of chocolate and cinnamon. Full-bodied and well-balanced, Riserva Ducale Oro’s round yet impressive tannins lead into a lengthy finish featuring notes of plum, clove and sweet tobacco
Dolce: Pistaccio Gelato with Zeppole and fresh fruit.
Ruffino Moscato D' Asti
Color: Bright straw yellow. Aroma: The bouquet is very fragrant and displays aromas characteristic of the Moscato varietal. Hints of sage and citrus fruit give way to distinct notes of peach and orange blossoms. Tasting profile: The wine delivers a pleasantly sweet taste, perfectly tempered by the freshness offered by its refined bubbles. Flavors of sage and fresh white stone fruit linger on the palate.

Kicking off with our sold out wine dinner on April 26th, we have finally, at the urging of our patrons and our good judgement, changed our name from 'The Tuscan Tea Room' to 'La Romanza Bistro Italiano'. We are also expanding our dinner hours to add Wednesday nights. So, we will serve dinner and happy hour Wednesday through Saturday starting next week.
We are very excited about this change but also assure that these are the only changes. We offer our same dinner, lunch, brunch, and afternoon tea menus. We offer our wine list, cocktails and our 70+ fine teas and will soon have them available for purchase through our website as well.
About nine months after we opened we added dinner service as well as expanded lunch, brunch and dinner menus to include live jazz and happy hour. Our new name is more indicative of what we truly offer: a bistro experience with fine Italian cuisine.
Thank you for your on going support!

The dawning of a new year inspires new beginnings and sparkles with possibiity. As we leave the holidays and the last year behind, January has for me always been a short cut to spring. The shimmering newness inspires creativity and usually a new mind set.
With that freshness we have created our newest Premium Tuscan Tea blend: The Vintage Youth. With dried rosemary from last year's harvest, French lavender, rose petals, vanilla bourbon and our finest black tea, this blend is as complex as it is soothing. It is a surprising cup as the floral notes are tamed by the rosemary and the rosemary is sofened by the vanilla and bourbon. It is quickly becoming a fan favorite and is rivialing our signature "Patronessa" tea for the top spot. It has not yet made it onto our tea list so if you are in the shop, please ask for it by name or ask your server about our newest house blend. Enjoy!
